Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
विद्धमन्योन्यगात्रेषु द्विगुणं वर्धते परम् ।
कृतप्रतिकृतान्योन्यं कुरुतां तौ रणाजिरे ॥६-७९-३४॥
viddhamanyonya gātreṣu dviguṇaṃ vardhate param |
kṛtapratikṛtānyonyaṃ kurutāṃ tau raṇājire ॥6-79-34॥
Translation
As their limbs were pierced by one another, their enthusiasm increased twofold. They both engaged in a series of actions and counter-actions on the battlefield.
हिंदी अनुवाद
एक-दूसरे के अंगों के बिंध जाने पर उनका उत्साह और भी बढ़ गया। वे दोनों युद्धभूमि में एक-दूसरे के वार पर पलटवार (क्रिया-प्रतिक्रिया) कर रहे थे।
English Commentary
The increase in enthusiasm despite being wounded is a hallmark of a warrior's indomitable nature. The phrase 'Krita-Pratikrita' (action and counter-action) illustrates the dynamic momentum of the battle and the equal footing of the two combatants. It was a struggle where surrender was not an option for either side.

चोट लगने पर योद्धा का क्रोध और उत्साह बढ़ना उसकी अदम्य वीर-प्रवृति का लक्षण है। 'कृत-प्रतिकृत' (वार और पलटवार) शब्द युद्ध की गतिशीलता और दोनों योद्धाओं की बराबरी की टक्कर को दर्शाते हैं। यह एक ऐसा संघर्ष था जहाँ हार मानना किसी के भी स्वभाव में नहीं था।
