Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
बाणौघैर्वितताः सर्वा दिशश्च प्रदिशस्तथा ।
सञ्छन्ना वसुधा चैव समन्तान्न प्रकाशते ॥६-७९-३६॥
bāṇaughairvitatāḥ sarvā diśaçca pradiśastathā |
sañchannā vasudhā caiva samantānna prakāśate ॥6-79-36॥
Translation
All the directions and sub-directions were filled with volleys of arrows. The entire earth appeared covered, and no light was visible anywhere.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बाणों के समूहों से सभी दिशाएं और उपदिशाएं भर गईं। पूरी पृथ्वी ढकी हुई सी प्रतीत होने लगी और कहीं भी प्रकाश दिखाई नहीं दे रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse describes the darkness caused by the sheer intensity of the archery. The arrows were so numerous that they effectively eclipsed the sunlight. The phrase 'Na Prakashate' suggests the battlefield had become a realm unto itself, ruled solely by weapons. This imagery evokes the darkness of cosmic dissolution.

यह श्लोक युद्ध की तीव्रता के कारण उत्पन्न हुए अंधकार का वर्णन करता है। बाणों की संख्या इतनी अधिक थी कि उन्होंने सूर्य के प्रकाश को भी रोक दिया था। 'न प्रकाशते' (प्रकाश नहीं था) शब्द यह संकेत देते हैं कि रणभूमि अब एक अलग ही संसार बन चुकी थी जहाँ केवल अस्त्रों का शासन था। यह दृश्य प्रलयकालीन अंधकार की स्मृति दिलाता है।
