तं दृष्ट्वा निहतं शूलं मकाराक्षो निशाचरः ।
मुष्टिमुद्यम्य काकुत्स्थं तिष्ठ तिष्ठेति चाब्रवीत् ॥६-७९-४४॥
taṃ dṛṣṭvā nihataṃ śūlaṃ makarākṣo niśācaraḥ |
muṣṭimudyamya kākutsthaṃ tiṣṭha tiṣṭheti cābravīt ॥6-79-44॥
Translation
Seeing his trident destroyed, the night-stalker Makaraksha raised his fist and said to the descendant of Kakutstha (Shri Rama): 'Stay! Wait there!'
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपने शूल को नष्ट हुआ देख निशाचर मकराक्ष ने अपनी मुट्ठी तानी और ककुत्स्थवंशी श्री राम से कहा— 'ठहरो, ठहरो'।
English Commentary
Disarmed, Makaraksha now desperately seeks a hand-to-hand duel. Saying 'Tistha Tistha' (Wait, Wait!) reflects a mixture of his rage and despair. He challenges Shri Rama using his bare fist ('Mushti'), representing the final exhibition of his animalistic strength now that his intellect and weapons have both failed.
हिंदी टीका
शस्त्रहीन होने पर मकराक्ष अब 'मल्ल-युद्ध' (कुश्ती) के लिए व्याकुल है। 'तिष्ठ तिष्ठ' (ठहरो ठहरो) कहना उसके क्रोध और हताशा का मिला-जुला स्वर है। वह अब अपनी मुट्ठी (मुष्टि) के बल पर श्री राम को चुनौती दे रहा है। यह उसकी पशु-तुल्य शक्ति का अंतिम प्रदर्शन है, जहाँ बुद्धि और अस्त्र दोनों हार चुके हैं।
