दृष्ट्वा ते राक्षसाः सर्वे मकराक्षस्य पातनम् ।
लङ्कामेवाभ्यधावन्त रामबाणार्दितास्तदा ॥६-७९-४७॥
dṛṣṭvā te rākṣasāḥ sarve makarākṣasya pātanam |
laṅkāmevābhyadhāvanta rāmabāṇārditāstadā ॥6-79-47॥
Translation
Seeing the fall of Makaraksha, all those Rakshasas, who were tormented by Shri Rama's arrows, fled back toward Lanka.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मकराक्ष को गिरते हुए देखकर वे सभी राक्षस, जो श्री राम के बाणों से पीड़ित थे, लंका की ओर ही भाग खड़े हुए।
English Commentary
The death of a commander uproots an army's morale. The Rakshasas fleeing toward Lanka is a psychological admission of defeat. They had lost the courage to stand against Shri Rama's invincible glory. This retreat reveals the deep-seated terror and insecurity that had now permeated the stronghold of unrighteousness.

सेनापति की मृत्यु सेना के मनोबल को जड़ से समाप्त कर देती है। राक्षसों का 'लंका की ओर भागना' उनकी हार की मानसिक स्वीकारोक्ति है। वे अब श्री राम के अजेय प्रताप के सामने खड़े होने का साहस खो चुके थे। यह पलायन अधर्म के गढ़ में व्याप्त हो चुके गहरे भय और असुरक्षा को प्रकट करता है।
