विद्रवत्सु तदा तेषु वानरेषु समन्ततः ।
रामस्तान् वारयामास शरवर्षेण राक्षसान् ॥६-७९-८॥
vidravatsu tadā teṣu vānareṣu samantataḥ |
rāmastān vārayāmāsa śaravarṣeṇa rākṣasān ॥6-79-8॥
Translation
While those monkeys were fleeing in all directions, Shri Rama checked those advancing Rakshasas with a shower of arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब वे वानर सब ओर भाग रहे थे, तब श्री राम ने बाणों की वर्षा करके उन राक्षसों को (आगे बढ़ने से) रोक दिया।
English Commentary
Shri Rama's role as the supreme protector is manifested here. When an army wavers, it is the commander's duty to hold the line personally. The word 'Varayamasa' (prevented/restrained) indicates that the mere touch of Shri Rama's arrows halted the Rakshasa momentum. This is a timely intervention by the Lord to safeguard His devotees.

यहाँ श्री राम का रक्षक स्वरूप प्रकट होता है। जब सेना विचलित होती है, तब नायक का कर्तव्य है कि वह स्वयं मोर्चा संभाले। 'वारयामास' शब्द यह दर्शाता है कि श्री राम के केवल बाणों के स्पर्श मात्र से राक्षसों का वेग रुक गया। यह शरणागत-वत्सल प्रभु की अपने सेवकों की रक्षा हेतु की गई तात्कालिक कार्यवाही है।
