अद्य हत्वा रणे यौ तौ मिथ्या प्रव्राजितौ वने ।
जयं पित्रे प्रदास्यामि रावणाय रणार्जितम् ॥६-८०-१७॥
adya hatvā raṇe yau tau mithyā pravrājitau vane |
jayaṃ pitre pradāsyāmi rāvaṇāya raṇārjitam ॥6-80-17॥
Translation
Killing those two today in battle, who are wandering in the forest under the false guise of ascetics, I shall grant my father Ravana a victory earned in war.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जो दो लोग (श्री राम और लक्ष्मण) वन में कपटपूर्वक सन्यासी बनकर घूम रहे हैं, आज युद्ध में उनका वध करके मैं अपने पिता रावण को युद्ध-विजित विजय प्रदान करूँगा।
English Commentary
Indrajit refers to Shri Rama and Lakshmana as 'mithya pravrajita' (fake ascetics). This reflects the demon perspective that bearing arms while being an ascetic is hypocrisy. He speaks of offering his victory as a 'gift' to his father, highlighting his filial duty. For him, this war is not just about destroying the enemy, but about restoring his father's honor.

इन्द्रजीत श्री राम और लक्ष्मण को 'मिथ्या प्रव्राजित' (झूठे सन्यासी) कहता है। यह राक्षसों की उस धारणा को दर्शाता है कि तपस्वी होकर शस्त्र धारण करना पाखंड है। वह अपनी विजय को 'भेंट' के रूप में पिता को देने की बात करता है, जो उसके पुत्र-धर्म को दर्शाता है। उसके लिए यह युद्ध केवल शत्रु का नाश नहीं, अपितु पिता के सम्मान की पुनर्स्थापना है।
