Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अद्य निर्वानरामुर्वीं हत्वा रामं सलक्ष्मणम् ।
करिष्ये परमप्रीतिमित्युक्त्वा ऽन्तरधीयत ॥६-८०-१८॥
adya nirvānarāmurvīṃ hatvā rāmaṃ salakṣmaṇam |
kariṣye paramaprītimityuktvā 'ntaradhīyata ॥6-80-18॥
Translation
Having killed Shri Rama along with Lakshmana today and ridding the earth of monkeys, I shall cause supreme delight (to my father) — saying this, he vanished.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आज श्री राम और लक्ष्मण को मारकर तथा पृथ्वी को वानरों से रहित करके (मैं पिता की) परम प्रीति करूँगा—ऐसा कहकर वह अदृश्य हो गया।
English Commentary
Indrajit's goal is not just the killing of Shri Rama and Lakshmana, but the complete extermination of the monkey race ('nirvanaram'). This represents the peak of his ruthlessness. Giving 'supreme delight' to his father is his sole objective. Saying this, he completely vanished, meaning he was not only invisible to the eye but his presence was hard to sense. This marks the beginning of the most dangerous phase of the battle.
हिंदी टीका
इन्द्रजीत का लक्ष्य केवल श्री राम-लक्ष्मण का वध नहीं, अपितु वानर जाति का समूल नाश ('निर्वाणराम्') है। यह उसकी क्रूरता की पराकाष्ठा है। 'परम प्रीति' (अत्यधिक प्रसन्नता) देना ही उसका उद्देश्य है। यह कहकर वह पूर्णतः अंतर्धान हो गया, अर्थात अब वह न केवल आँखों से ओझल था, बल्कि उसकी उपस्थिति का भान होना भी कठिन था। यह युद्ध के सबसे खतरनाक चरण का आरम्भ है।
