स हि धूमान्धकारं च चक्रे प्रच्छादयन्नभः ।
दिशश्चान्तर्दधे श्रीमान्नीहारतमसावृताः ॥६-८०-२५॥
sa hi dhūmāndhakāraṃ ca cakre pracchādayannabhaḥ |
diśaścāntardadhe śrīmānnīhāratamasāvṛtāḥ ॥6-80-25॥
Translation
He created a darkness of smoke covering the sky, and hid the directions by enveloping them in fog and darkness.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस श्रीमान (इन्द्रजीत) ने आकाश को ढकते हुए धुएं का अन्धकार फैला दिया और कोहरे (तुषार) तथा अन्धकार से दिशाओं को आच्छादित करके छिपा दिया।
English Commentary
Indrajit didn't just hide himself; he obscured the entire environment. By creating smoke and fog, he reduced visibility to zero. This was the effect of a hypnotic weapon or Tamasic illusion. In such an atmosphere, losing sense of direction is inevitable, confusing the warriors. The epithet 'Shriman' (prosperous/glorious) here ironically refers to his mastery over these dark arts.

इन्द्रजीत ने केवल स्वयं को नहीं छिपाया, बल्कि पूरे वातावरण को ही धुंधला कर दिया। धुएं और कोहरे का निर्माण करके उसने दृश्यता (visibility) शून्य कर दी। यह 'सम्मोहन अस्त्र' या तामसी माया का प्रभाव था। ऐसे वातावरण में दिशा का ज्ञान होना असंभव हो जाता है, जिससे योद्धा भ्रमित हो जाते हैं। 'श्रीमान' विशेषण उसकी इस काली विद्या में निपुणता (ऐश्वर्य) के लिए प्रयुक्त हुआ है।
