Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
घनान्धकारे तिमिरे शरवर्षमिवाद्भुतम् ।
स ववर्ष महाबाहुर्नाराचशरवृष्टिभिः ॥६-८०-२७॥
ghanāndhakāre timire śaravarṣamivādbhutam |
sa vavarṣa mahābāhurnārācaśaravṛṣṭibhiḥ ॥6-80-27॥
Translation
In that dense darkness, that mighty-armed warrior rained down iron arrows like a wondrous shower of arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस घने अन्धकार रूपी तिमिर में, उस महाबाहु (इन्द्रजीत) ने अद्भुत बाण-वर्षा की भांति नाराच (लोहे के बाणों) की वृष्टि की।
English Commentary
In the darkness, only the falling arrows were perceived. The word 'adbhuta' (wondrous/strange) is used because the relentless arrival of arrows from no visible source was astonishing. Indrajit is 'mahabahu' (mighty-armed), implying he was untiring in his assault. This situation is reminiscent of the hardships faced in the Mahabharata during unethical warfare.

अंधकार में केवल बाणों के गिरने का आभास हो रहा था। 'अद्भुत' शब्द का प्रयोग इसलिए किया गया है क्योंकि बिना किसी स्रोत के इतनी भारी मात्रा में बाणों का आना आश्चर्यजनक था। इन्द्रजीत 'महाबाहु' है, अर्थात वह थक नहीं रहा था और निरंतर प्रहार कर रहा था। यह स्थिति पांडवों द्वारा महाभारत में सहे गए कष्टों की याद दिलाती है, जहाँ नियम-विरुद्ध युद्ध हुआ था।
