यतो हि ददृशाते तौ शरान्निपततः शितान् ।
ततस्तु तौ दाशरथी ससृजाते ऽस्त्रमुत्तमम् ॥६-८०-३२॥
yato hi dadṛśāte tau śarānnipatataḥ śitān |
tatastu tau dāśarathī sasṛjāte 'stramuttamam ॥6-80-32॥
Translation
In whichever direction the two sons of Dasharatha saw sharp arrows falling, they released excellent weapons in that very direction.

जिधर से वे दोनों दशरथ-पुत्र तीखे बाणों को गिरते हुए देखते थे, उधर ही वे उत्तम अस्त्र छोड़ते थे।
English Commentary
Since the enemy was invisible, the trajectory of the arrows was the only clue. Shri Rama and Lakshmana adopted a 'reactive strategy.' This was not helplessness, but the best effort with available resources. They fired not just arrows but 'excellent weapons' to inflict maximum damage on the enemy.

चूँकि शत्रु अदृश्य था, इसलिए बाणों की दिशा ही एकमात्र संकेत थी। श्री राम और लक्ष्मण 'प्रतिक्रियात्मक रणनीति' (reactive strategy) अपना रहे थे। यह उनकी विवशता नहीं, अपितु उपलब्ध संसाधनों में सर्वोत्तम प्रयास था। वे केवल बाण नहीं, अपितु 'उत्तम अस्त्र' चला रहे थे ताकि शत्रु को अधिक क्षति पहुँचाई जा सके।
