स पश्चिमेन द्वारेण निर्ययौ राक्षसैर्वृतः ।
इन्द्रजित्तु महावीर्यः पौलस्त्यो देवकण्टकः ॥६-८१-३॥
sa paścimena dvāreṇa niryayau rākṣasairvṛtaḥ |
indrajittu mahāvīryaḥ paulastyo devakaṇṭakaḥ ॥6-81-3॥
Translation
Surrounded by Rakshasas, the mighty Indrajit, descendant of Pulastya and thorn in the side of gods, exited through the western gate.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसों से घिरा हुआ, महावीर्यवान और देवताओं का शत्रु (कंटक) वह पुलस्त्यवंशी इन्द्रजीत पश्चिमी द्वार से निकला।
English Commentary
The mention of the western gate has strategic significance. The epithet 'Devakantaka' (thorn to the gods) reminds us of his power and past victories.
