पातितायां शिलायां तु रक्षसां व्यथिता चमूः ।
निपतन्त्या च शिलया राक्षसा मथिता भृशम् ॥६-८२-१२॥
pātitāyāṃ śilāyāṃ tu rakṣasāṃ vyathitā camūḥ |
nipatantyā ca śilayā rākṣasā mathitā bhṛṣam ॥6-82-12॥
Translation
By the falling of that rock, the Rakshasa army was distressed, and many Rakshasas were severely crushed under its descending weight.

उस शिला के गिरने से राक्षसों की सेना व्यथित हो गई और गिरती हुई उस शिला के नीचे दबकर बहुत से राक्षस बुरी तरह कुचल दिए गए।
English Commentary
Even though Indrajit escaped, Shri Hanuman's rock caused a massive slaughter of ordinary Rakshasas. The word 'Mathitah' (crushed/churned) suggests that the impact of the rock was as destructive as a grinding machine. This highlights an aspect of war where the rank and file soldiers suffer the consequences of the heroes' strikes. For the Vanaras, this was a partial success.

यद्यपि इन्द्रजित बच गया, किन्तु हनुमान जी की उस शिला ने साधारण राक्षसों का भारी संहार किया। 'मथिताः' शब्द यह बताता है कि शिला का प्रहार किसी यंत्र की भांति विनाशकारी था। यह युद्ध के उस पक्ष को उजागर करता है जहाँ नायकों के प्रहारों का प्रभाव पूरी सेना को भुगतना पड़ता है। वानर सेना के लिए यह एक आंशिक सफलता थी।
