Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तौ यत् प्रतिविधास्येते तत् करिष्यामहे वयम् ।
इत्युक्त्वा वानरश्रेष्ठो वारयन् सर्ववानरान् ॥६-८२-२३॥
tau yat pratividhāsyete tat kariṣyāmahe vayam |
ityuktvā vānarāśreṣṭho vārayan sarvavānarān ॥6-82-23॥
Translation
Whatever decision those two take now, we shall do accordingly.' Saying this, the foremost among monkeys, Hanuman, restrained all the monkeys (from battle).
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे दोनों अब जो भी निर्णय लेंगे, हम वही करेंगे। ऐसा कहकर वानर श्रेष्ठ हनुमान जी ने सभी वानरों को (युद्ध से) रोक लिया।
English Commentary
Shri Hanuman is entirely submissive to the will of Shri Rama. He knows that in such a dire situation, only the Lord's decision is paramount. The term 'Varayan' (restraining) proves His control over the army. He does not wish for more Vanaras to be killed in what He now sees as a futile slaughter. This reflects a maturity in leadership where pulling back when necessary is also considered an act of valor.
हिंदी टीका
हनुमान जी पूर्णतः श्री राम की आज्ञा के अधीन हैं। वे जानते हैं कि ऐसी विषम परिस्थिति में केवल प्रभु का निर्णय ही सर्वोपरि है। 'वारयन्' (रोकते हुए) शब्द उनकी सेना पर नियंत्रण को सिद्ध करता है। वे नहीं चाहते कि निरर्थक संहार में और अधिक वानर मारे जाएं। यह नेतृत्व की वह परिपक्वता है जहाँ आवश्यकता पड़ने पर कदम पीछे खींचना भी वीरता मानी जाती है।
