यज्ञभूम्यां तु विधिवत् पावकस्तेन रक्षसा ।
हूयमानः प्रजज्वाल मांसशोणितभुक् तदा ॥६-८२-२६॥
yajñabhūmyāṃ tu vidhivat pāvakastena rakṣasā |
hūyamānaḥ prajajvāla māṃsaśoṇitabhuk tadā ॥6-82-26॥
Translation
As that Rakshasa offered oblations methodically in the sacrificial ground, the fire, which feeds on flesh and blood, blazed up.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यज्ञ भूमि में उस राक्षस द्वारा विधिपूर्वक आहुति दिए जाने पर, वह मांस और रक्त का भक्षण करने वाली अग्नि प्रज्वलित हो उठी।
English Commentary
Indrajit's sacrifice is intensely gruesome and Tamasic. A fire that 'feeds on flesh and blood' proves that this was no virtuous ritual. The demonic method ('Vidhivat') employs impure elements for destructive ends. The blazing of the fire was a sign that his sinister penance was succeeding, posing a new threat to the side of Dharma.

इन्द्रजित का यज्ञ अत्यंत वीभत्स और तामसिक है। 'मांस-शोणित-भुक्' (मांस और रक्त खाने वाली) अग्नि यह सिद्ध करती है कि यह कोई सात्विक पूजा नहीं थी। राक्षसी विधि (विद्वत) विनाश के लिए अशुद्ध वस्तुओं का प्रयोग करती है। अग्नि का प्रज्वलित होना यह संकेत था कि उसकी आसुरी साधना सफल हो रही थी, जो धर्म के लिए एक नया संकट था।
