यदि धर्मेण युज्येरन्नाधर्मरुचयो जनाः ।
धर्मेण चरतां धर्मस्तथा चैषां फलं भवेत् ॥६-८३-२०॥
yadi dharmeṇa yujyerannādharmarucayo janāḥ |
dharmeṇa caratāṃ dharmastathā caiṣāṃ phalaṃ bhavet ॥6-83-20॥
Translation
If people interested in unrighteousness were joined with the fruits of unrighteousness, and the fruits of Dharma reached those walking on the path of Dharma, then the system would be correct.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि अधर्म में रुचि रखने वाले लोग अधर्म के फल से युक्त होते और धर्म पर चलने वालों को धर्म का फल मिलता, तो व्यवस्था सही होती।
English Commentary
Shri Lakshmana envisions an ideal system of justice here. His grief stems from the fact that reality seems to contradict this ideal. He wants Shri Rama to understand that merely adhering to passive Dharma will not defeat the enemy; executing punishment is now the only true Dharma.

लक्ष्मण जी यहाँ एक आदर्श न्याय व्यवस्था की परिकल्पना कर रहे हैं। उनका दुःख यह है कि वास्तविकता इस आदर्श के विपरीत है। वे श्री राम को यह समझाना चाहते हैं कि केवल 'धर्म-धर्म' जपने से शत्रु पराजित नहीं होगा, बल्कि उसे दंडित करना ही अब वास्तविक धर्म है।
