यस्मादर्था विवर्धन्ते येष्वधर्मः पतिष्ठितः ।
क्लिश्यन्ते धर्मशीलाश्च तस्मादेतौ निरर्थकौ ॥६-८३-२१॥
yasmādar thā vivardhante yeṣvadharmaḥ patiṣṭhitaḥ |
kliśyante dharmaśīlāśca tasmādetau nirarthakau ॥6-83-21॥
Translation
Since the wealth of the unrighteous is increasing and the righteous are being tormented, both of these (Dharma and Adharma) are meaningless in my view.
हिंदी अनुवाद
चूँकि अधर्मियों का ऐश्वर्य बढ़ रहा है और धर्मशीलों को कष्ट मिल रहा है, इसलिए ये दोनों (धर्म और अधर्म) मेरी दृष्टि में निरर्थक हैं।
English Commentary
The conflict between 'Artha' (wealth/power) and 'Dharma' is described here. Shri Lakshmana sees that Ravana possesses everything while Shri Rama has only grief. He concludes that no moral force governs the world. This is a peak of frustration that drives him toward a more aggressive stance.

यहाँ 'अर्थ' (संपत्ति/शक्ति) और 'धर्म' के बीच के संघर्ष का वर्णन है। लक्ष्मण जी देख रहे हैं कि रावण के पास सब कुछ है और श्री राम के पास केवल शोक। वे इस निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचते हैं कि जगत में कोई नैतिक शक्ति काम नहीं कर रही। यह हताशा का चरम बिंदु है जो उन्हें और अधिक उग्र होने के लिए प्रेरित कर रहा है।
