अथवा विहितेनायं हन्यते हन्ति वा परम् ।
विधिरालिप्यते तेन न स पापेन कर्मणा ॥६-८३-२३॥
athavā vihitenāyaṃ hanyate hanti vā param |
vidhirālipyate tena na sa pāpena karmaṇā ॥6-83-23॥
Translation
Or if everything is done by Destiny (Vidhi), then the killer and the killed are both untouched by sin; for it is Destiny that acts, and it is not tainted by sinful deeds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अथवा यदि सब कुछ प्रारब्ध (विधि) से ही होता है, तो मारने वाला और मरने वाला दोनों निर्दोष हैं; क्योंकि विधि ही सब कुछ करती है, वह पाप से नहीं लिप्त होती।
English Commentary
Shri Lakshmana presents the irony of fatalism here. He argues that if everything is pre-ordained, then the distinctions between Dharma and Adharma become meaningless. This logic is used to absolve Shri Rama of the guilt He was feeling for the perceived tragedy.
हिंदी टीका
लक्ष्मण जी यहाँ नियतिवाद (Fatalism) की विडम्बना प्रस्तुत कर रहे हैं। वे कहते हैं कि यदि सब कुछ पूर्व-निश्चित है, तो फिर धर्म और अधर्म का कोई अर्थ ही नहीं रह जाता। यह तर्क श्री राम को उस शोक से बाहर निकालने के लिए है जहाँ वे स्वयं को दोषी मान रहे थे।
