Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सो ऽयमर्थं परित्यज्य सुखकामः सुखैधितः ।
पापमारभते कर्तुं ततो दोषः प्रवर्तते ॥६-८३-३४॥
so 'yamarthaṃ parityajya sukhakāmaḥ sukhaidhitaḥ |
pāpamārabhate kartuṃ tato doṣaḥ pravartate ॥6-83-34॥
Translation
One who is raised in comfort and desires happiness, when he abandons power, begins to incur sin (weakness) and faults arise in him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जो सुखों में पला हो और सुख की इच्छा रखता हो, वह जब शक्ति (अर्थ) का त्याग कर देता है, तो वह अनजाने में पाप (दुर्बलता) का भागी बनता है और उसमें दोष आने लगते हैं।
English Commentary
Shri Lakshmana relates a psychological truth here. He argues that for a Prince like Shri Rama, passivity is the greatest fault. Renouncing power effectively encourages the unrighteous. He wants Shri Rama to cast aside this 'inaction' born of grief.

लक्ष्मण जी यहाँ एक मनोवैज्ञानिक सत्य बता रहे हैं। वे कहते हैं कि श्री राम जैसे राजकुमार के लिए निष्क्रियता ही सबसे बड़ा दोष है। शक्ति का त्याग करना ही अधर्मियों को बढ़ावा देना है। वे चाहते हैं कि श्री राम अपनी इस 'अकर्मण्यता' को त्यागें।
