समरे युद्ध्यमानानामस्माकं प्रेक्षतां पुरः ।
जघान रुदतीं सीतामिन्द्रिजिद्रावणात्मजः ॥६-८३-८॥
samare yudhyamānānāmasmākaṃ prekṣatāṃ puraḥ |
jaghāna rudatīṃ sītāmindrajidrāvaṇātmajaḥ ॥6-83-8॥
Translation
While we were all looking on as we fought in the battle, Indrajit, the son of Ravana, slew the weeping Sita.
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध में हम सबके देखते-देखते रावण पुत्र इन्द्रजित ने विलाप करती हुई माता सीता का वध कर दिया है।
English Commentary
This is a heart-wrenching moment in the Ramayana. Shri Hanuman relates the event exactly as He witnessed it, unaware that it was Indrajit's 'Maya' (illusion). Indrajit resorted to this vile deception to shatter the morale of the Vanaras. The mention of 'weeping Sita' amplifies the pathos of the scene. It represents the height of demonic treachery designed to delude the heroes of Dharma.

यह श्री रामायण का एक हृदयविदारक क्षण है। हनुमान जी वह सत्य बता रहे हैं जो उन्होंने देखा, यद्यपि वह इन्द्रजित की 'माया' थी। इन्द्रजित ने वानरों के मनोबल को तोड़ने के लिए इस निकृष्ट प्रपंच का सहारा लिया। 'रुदतीम् सीताम्' (रोती हुई सीता) का उल्लेख उस दृश्य की करुणा को बढ़ा देता है। यह राक्षसी छल-कपट की पराकाष्ठा है जो धर्म के वीरों को भ्रमित करने के लिए रचा गया था।
