सो ऽभिगम्य महात्मानं राघवं शोकलालसम् ।
वानरांश्चैव ददृशे बाष्पपर्याकुलेक्षणान् ॥६-८४-३॥
so 'bhigamya mahātmānaṃ rāghavaṃ śokalālasam |
vānarāṃścaiva dadṛśe bāṣpaparyākulekṣaṇān ॥6-84-3॥
Translation
Approaching the high-souled Shri Rama, he saw that the Lord was immersed in grief, and the eyes of all the Vanaras were similarly overwhelmed with tears.

उन विभीषण ने महात्मा श्री रघुनाथ जी के पास जाकर देखा कि वे शोक में डूबे हुए हैं और सभी वानरों के नेत्र भी आंसुओं से व्याकुल हैं।
English Commentary
The atmosphere on the battlefield is profoundly tragic. Upon arrival, Vibhishana finds not just Shri Rama but the entire Vanara host engulfed in collective mourning. The word 'Shokalalasam' captures the deep human agony Shri Rama experiences upon hearing the news of Sita's (illusory) slaughter. The weeping of the Vanaras proves that the entire army is spiritually unified with their Master's sorrow. This verse depicts a moment of crisis where the warriors of Truth appear to be losing their last shred of hope.

रणभूमि का वातावरण यहाँ अत्यंत करुण है। विभीषण जी जब पहुँचते हैं, तो वे केवल श्री राम को ही नहीं, अपितु सम्पूर्ण वानर सेना को सामूहिक शोक में डूबा हुआ पाते हैं। 'शोकलालसम्' शब्द श्री राम की उस गहन मानवीय पीड़ा को दर्शाता है जो उन्होंने माता सीता के (मायावी) वध के समाचार से अनुभव की। वानरों का रोना यह सिद्ध करता है कि पूरी सेना अपने स्वामी के दुःख से एकात्म है। यह श्लोक एक ऐसे संकट के क्षण को चित्रित करता है जहाँ सत्य के योद्धा अपनी अंतिम आशा खोते हुए प्रतीत हो रहे हैं।
