राक्षसेन्द्रबलं दूरादपश्यद् व्यूहमास्थितम् ।
स तं प्राप्य धनुष्पाणिर्मायायोगमरिन्दमः ॥६-८५-३४॥
rākṣasendrabalaṃ dūrādapaśyad vyūhamāsthitam |
sa taṃ prāpya dhanuṣpāṇirmāyāyogamarindamaḥ ॥6-85-34॥
Translation
Beheld from afar the army of the Rakshasa king arranged in a battle-formation. Reaching that place of illusory power with bow in hand, the subduer of enemies (Lakshmana)—

दूर से ही राक्षसों की उस विशाल सेना को व्यूह रचना में खड़ा देखा। शत्रुओं का दमन करने वाले लक्ष्मण ने हाथ में धनुष लेकर उस मायावी स्थान (निकुम्भिला) पर पहुँचकर—
English Commentary
The Rakshasa army being in a 'Vyuha' (formation) indicates that Indrajit had made stringent arrangements for his security. Lakshmana being 'Dhanushpani' (with bow in hand) symbolizes His absolute readiness for battle. The term 'Mayayogam' refers to the atmosphere of Nikumbhila, where everything was deceptive and supernatural. A direct confrontation between Dharma and Illusion was now imminent.

शत्रु सेना का 'व्यूह' में होना यह बताता है कि इन्द्रजित ने अपनी सुरक्षा का कड़ा प्रबंध कर रखा था। लक्ष्मण जी का 'धनुष्पाणि' (हाथ में धनुष लिए) होना उनकी युद्ध के लिए पूर्ण तत्परता का प्रतीक है। 'मायायोगम्' शब्द निकुम्भिला के उस वातावरण को सूचित करता है जहाँ सब कुछ छद्म और अलौकिक था। अब धर्म और माया का आमने-सामने का मुकाबला होने वाला था।
