विविधममलशस्त्रभास्वरं तद् ध्वजगहनं विपुलं महारथैश्च ।
प्रतिभयतममप्रमेयवेगं तिमिरमिव द्विषतां बलं विवेश ॥६-८५-३६॥
vividhamamala śastrabhāsvaraṃ tad dhvajagahanaṃ vipulaṃ mahārathaīśca |
pratibhayatam amaprameyavegaṃ timiramiva dviṣatāṃ balaṃ viveśa ॥6-85-36॥
Translation
Lakshmana entered the army of the enemies—which was filled with various shining weapons, appeared like a dense forest due to its banners, was crowded with great car-warriors, and possessed immeasurable speed—just as one enters deep darkness.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अनेक प्रकार के निर्मल और चमकते शस्त्रों से युक्त, ध्वजाओं के कारण घने वन के समान लगने वाली और महारथियों से भरी हुई उस अत्यंत डरावनी और अपार वेग वाली शत्रु सेना में, लक्ष्मण ने वैसे ही प्रवेश किया जैसे कोई घोर अंधकार में प्रवेश करता है।
English Commentary
The sarga concludes with a profoundly powerful metaphor. The enemy army is compared to 'Timira' (deep darkness). Shri Lakshmana's entry is like a beam of light penetrating the dark to annihilate it. The phrases 'immeasurable speed' and 'dense forest of banners' reinforce the vastness and terror of the Rakshasa host. It is a moment of supreme heroism where the champion plunges into the heart of danger for the welfare of the world.

सर्ग का समापन एक अत्यंत प्रभावशाली उपमा के साथ होता है। शत्रु सेना की तुलना 'तिमिर' (अंधकार) से की गई है। श्री लक्ष्मण जी का उसमें प्रवेश करना उस प्रकाश के समान है जो अंधकार को मिटाने के लिए उसके भीतर जाता है। 'अपार वेग' और 'धु्रज-गहन' शब्द राक्षसी सेना की विशालता और भयंकरता को पुष्ट करते हैं। यह वीरता का वह क्षण है जहाँ नायक स्वयं को संकट के गर्त में झोंक देता है ताकि लोक का कल्याण हो सके।
