Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवमुक्तो महातेजा मनस्वी रावणात्मजः ।
अब्रवीत् परुषं वाक्यं तत्र दृष्ट्वा विभीषणम् ॥६-८७-१०॥
evamukto mahātejā manasvī rāvaṇātmajaḥ |
abravīt paruṣaṃ vākyaṃ tatra dṛṣṭvā vibhīṣaṇam ॥6-87-10॥
Translation
Being addressed thus, the highly radiant and strong-minded son of Ravana, seeing Vibhishana there, spoke harsh words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ऐसा कहे जाने पर, महातेजस्वी और मनस्वी रावणपुत्र ने वहाँ विभीषण को देखकर कठोर वचन कहे।
English Commentary
Upon hearing Lakshmana's challenge, Indrajit's attention shifted not to Lakshmana, but to his uncle Vibhishana. He realized that Vibhishana was the cause of the interruption and the exposure of his secret location. The 'strong-minded' Indrajit felt more rage towards the 'traitor within' than towards the enemy. Speaking 'harsh words' was a natural reaction.

लक्ष्मण की चुनौती सुनकर इन्द्रजीत का ध्यान लक्ष्मण पर जाने के बजाय अपने चाचा विभीषण पर गया। उसे समझ आ गया कि यज्ञ में बाधा और गुप्त स्थान का पता विभीषण के कारण ही लगा है। 'मनस्वी' (दृढ़ मन वाला) इन्द्रजीत को लक्ष्मण से अधिक क्रोध 'घर के भेदी' विभीषण पर आया। उसका 'कठोर वचन' बोलना एक स्वाभाविक प्रतिक्रिया थी।
