नीलजीमूतसङ्काशं न्यग्रोधं भीमदर्शनम् ।
तेजस्वी रावणभ्राता लक्ष्मणाय न्यवेदयत् ॥६-८७-३॥
nīlajīmūtasaṅkāśaṃ nyagrodhaṃ bhīmadarśanam |
tejasvī rāvaṇabhrātā lakṣmaṇāya nyavedayat ॥6-87-3॥
Translation
The radiant brother of Ravana pointed out to Lakshmana a Banyan tree that resembled a dark blue cloud and was terrifying to behold.

तेजस्वी रावण-भ्राता (विभीषण) ने लक्ष्मण को नीले बादल के समान काले और भयानक दिखने वाले वटवृक्ष का परिचय दिया।
English Commentary
The Banyan tree (Nyagrodha) here symbolizes tantric powers and mystery. Its resemblance to a 'dark blue cloud' and its 'terrifying appearance' reflect the gravity of the atmosphere and demonic illusion. In ancient times, such secret rituals were often performed under Banyan trees. Vibhishana pointing out this specific tree ensured that the target was clearly identified.

वटवृक्ष (न्यग्रोध) यहाँ तांत्रिक शक्तियों और रहस्य का प्रतीक है। उसका 'नीले बादल' जैसा रंग और 'भीमदर्शन' (भयानक रूप) वातावरण की गंभीरता और आसुरी माया को दर्शाता है। प्राचीन काल में वटवृक्षों के नीचे ही प्रायः ऐसे गुप्त अनुष्ठान किए जाते थे। विभीषण द्वारा इस विशिष्ट वृक्ष की ओर संकेत करना लक्ष्य की पहचान सुनिश्चित करना था।
