हनुमत्पृष्ठमासीनमुदयस्थरविप्रभम् ।
उवाचैनं समारब्धः सौमित्रिं सविभीषणम् ॥६-८८-५॥
hanumatpṛṣṭhamāsīnamudayastharaviprabham |
uvācainaṃ samārabdhaḥ saumitriṃ savibhīṣaṇam ॥6-88-5॥
Translation
To the son of Sumitra (Lakshmana), who was seated on Hanuman's back shining like the sun on the eastern mountain, and was accompanied by Vibhishana, he (Indrajit) spoke as he began his task.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उदयाचल पर स्थित सूर्य की भांति तेजस्वी, हनुमान जी की पीठ पर विराजमान सुमित्रानन्दन (लक्ष्मण) से, जो विभीषण के साथ थे, उस (इन्द्रजीत) ने कार्य आरम्भ करते हुए कहा।
English Commentary
Lakshmana riding on Hanuman's shoulders is a magnificent sight—an incarnation of Vishnu (Lakshmana/Sheshanaga) riding an incarnation of Shiva (Hanuman). This combination is invincible. Lakshmana is compared to the 'rising sun,' destined to dispel darkness (Indrajit). Indrajit issues a challenge before commencing the battle.

लक्ष्मण जी का हनुमान जी के कंधों पर बैठना एक अद्भुत दृश्य है—भगवान विष्णु के अवतार (लक्ष्मण/शेषनाग) भगवान शिव के अवतार (हनुमान) पर सवार हैं। यह संयोजन अजेय है। लक्ष्मण की तुलना 'उगते सूर्य' से की गई है जो अंधकार (इन्द्रजीत) का नाश करने वाला है। इन्द्रजीत ने युद्ध आरम्भ करने से पूर्व चुनौती दी।
