तस्य ज्यातलनिर्घोषं स श्रुत्वा रावणात्मजः ।
विवर्णवदनो भूत्वा लक्ष्मणं समुदैक्षत ॥६-८९-२॥
tasya jyājalanirghoṣaṃ sa śrutvā rāvaṇātmajaḥ |
vivarṇavadano bhūtvā lakṣmaṇaṃ samudaikṣata ॥6-89-2॥
Translation
Hearing the twang of that bowstring, the son of Ravana (Indrajit) turned pale in the face and looked at Lakshmana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस (धनुष की) प्रत्यंचा की टंकार सुनकर रावणपुत्र (इन्द्रजीत) का चेहरा फीका (विवर्ण) पड़ गया और उसने लक्ष्मण की ओर देखा।
English Commentary
The mere twang of the bow was so terrible that even a warrior like Indrajit was shaken. 'Vivarnavadano' (pale-faced) clearly indicates the fear or anxiety arising within him.
हिंदी टीका
धनुष की टंकार ही इतनी भयानक थी कि इन्द्रजीत जैसा महारथी भी विचलित हो गया। 'विवर्णवदनो' (फीका चेहरा) उसके अंतर्मन में उपजे भय या चिंता का स्पष्ट संकेत है।
