Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तौ प्रयुद्धौ तदा वीरौ मृधे लक्ष्मणराक्षसौ ।
शरौघानभिवर्षन्तौ जघ्नतुस्तौ परस्परम् ॥६-९०-२८॥
tau prayuddhau tadā vīrau mṛdhe lakṣmaṇarākṣasau |
śaraughānabhivarsantau jaghnatustau parasparam ॥6-90-28॥
Translation
Then those two heroes—Lakshmana and the Rakshasa (Indrajit)—clashed in the battlefield. Showering volleys of arrows, they struck at each other.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब युद्धभूमि में वे दोनों वीर— लक्ष्मण और राक्षस (इन्द्रजित) भिड़ गए। वे बाणों के समूहों की वर्षा करते हुए एक-दूसरे पर प्रहार करने लगे।
English Commentary
The duel has now reached its peak level of missile warfare. The term 'Sharaughan' (masses of arrows) indicates the density of the shafts. It was a test not just of strength but of the subtle proficiency of archery. Both warriors were constantly attempting to find a counter to the other's strikes.

यह द्वंद्व अब अपने चरम अस्त्र-युद्ध के स्तर पर पहुँच चुका है। 'शरौघान्' (बाणों के समूह) शब्द बाणों की सघनता को दर्शाते हैं। यहाँ केवल बल नहीं बल्कि धनुर्विद्या की सूक्ष्म निपुणता का परीक्षण हो रहा था। दोनों ही योद्धा एक-दूसरे की काट खोजने का निरंतर प्रयास कर रहे थे।
