स तेन बाणाशनिना तलशब्दानुनादिना ।
लाघवाद्राघवः श्रीमान् शिरः कायादपाहरत् ॥६-९०-४२॥
sa tena bāṇāśaninā talaśabdānunādinā |
lāghavādrāghavaḥ śrīmān śiraḥ kāyādapāharat ॥6-90-42॥
Translation
With that thunderbolt-like arrow accompanied by the resonance of a palm-clap, the glorious Lakshmana (scion of Raghu), through His agility, severed the head of the charioteer from his body.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हथेली की टंकार के शब्द के साथ छोड़े गए उस वज्र-तुल्य बाण से, श्रीमान लक्ष्मण ने अपनी फूर्ती (लाघव) से सारथी का सिर उसके शरीर से अलग कर दिया।
English Commentary
Shri Lakshmana is addressed here as 'Shriman' and 'Raghavah,' affirming His divine dignity. 'Talashabda' (the sound of the palm striking the bow) indicates the immense velocity of the shot. 'Laghavat' (agility/quickness) proves that before Indrajit could even comprehend, his charioteer was already slain. This was a humiliating and significant tactical loss for Indrajit.

श्री लक्ष्मण जी को यहाँ 'श्रीमान्' और 'राघवः' (रघुवंशी) कहा गया है, जो उनकी दिव्य मर्यादा को पुष्ट करता है। 'तलाशब्द' (हथेली की चोट का शब्द) प्रहार के वेग का सूचक है। 'लाघवात्' (शीघ्रता या फूर्ती) यह सिद्ध करता है कि इन्द्रजित के समझने से पहले ही उसका सारथी धराशायी हो चुका था। यह इन्द्रजित के लिए एक अत्यंत अपमानजनक और सामरिक क्षति थी।
