Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
धनुष्यथ पुनर्व्यग्रे हयेषु मुमुचे शरान् ।
छिद्रेषु तेषु बाणेषु सौमित्रिः शीघ्रविक्रमः ॥६-९०-४५॥
dhanuṣyatha punarvyagre hayeṣu mumuçe śarān |
chidreṣu teṣu bāṇeṣu saumitriḥ śīghravikramaḥ ॥6-90-45॥
Translation
When Indrajit became busy with his bow again, the swift-acting Lakshmana discharged arrows at the horses. He took advantage of the gaps (opportunities) between those arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब इन्द्रजित पुनः धनुष संभालने में व्यस्त हुआ, तब शीघ्र पराक्रम दिखाने वाले लक्ष्मण ने घोड़ों पर बाण छोड़ दिए। उन्होंने उन बाणों के बीच मिले अंतराल (छिद्र) का लाभ उठाया।
English Commentary
Shri Lakshmana proves Himself to be 'Shighravikramah' (of swift prowess). He did not allow Indrajit to settle into any single task. When the demon picked up his bow, Lakshmana struck the horses. This is a method of creating 'strategic instability.' The word 'Chidra' refers to a lapse in the enemy's concentration or a gap found in his defensive shield.

श्री लक्ष्मण जी यहाँ 'शीघ्रविक्रमः' (त्वरित पराक्रम वाले) सिद्ध हो रहे हैं। वे इन्द्रजित को किसी एक कार्य में स्थिर नहीं होने दे रहे थे। जब वह धनुष उठाता, तो वे घोड़ों पर वार करते। यह 'रणनीतिक अस्थिरता' (Strategic Instability) पैदा करने का तरीका है। 'छिद्र' शब्द का अर्थ यहाँ शत्रु की एकाग्रता में आई कमी या रक्षात्मक ढाल में मिली जगह से है।
