स हताश्वादवप्लुत्य रथान्मथितसारथेः ।
शरवर्षेण सौमित्रिमभ्यधावत रावणिः ॥६-९०-५३॥
sa hatāśvādavaplutya rathānmathitasāratheḥ |
śaravarṣeṇa saumitrimabhyadhāvata rāvaṇiḥ ॥6-90-53॥
Translation
With his horses killed and his charioteer destroyed, Indrajit leaped down from that chariot and rushed toward Lakshmana, showering Him with a rain of arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
घोड़ों के मारे जाने और सारथी के नष्ट होने पर, इन्द्रजित उस रथ से नीचे कूदा और बाणों की वर्षा करते हुए लक्ष्मण जी की ओर दौड़ा।
English Commentary
Indrajit displays his final desperation and valor here. Even after being rendered chariotless ('Viratha'), his courage did not wane. Rushing while 'showering arrows' proves that he was extremely dangerous even in infantry combat. He intended to suppress Lakshmana with the velocity of his archery before the Lord could overwhelm him. This is the final, violent form of demonic power.

इन्द्रजित यहाँ अपनी अंतिम हताशा और शौर्य का प्रदर्शन कर रहा है। रथहीन (विरथ) होने पर भी उसका साहस कम नहीं हुआ। 'शरवर्षा' करते हुए दौड़ना यह सिद्ध करता है कि वह पैदल युद्ध में भी अत्यंत खतरनाक था। वह चाहता था कि इससे पहले कि लक्ष्मण जी उस पर हावी हों, वह अपने बाणों के वेग से उन्हें दबा दे। यह असुर शक्ति का अंतिम उग्र रूप है।
