ततो महेन्द्रप्रतिमः स लक्ष्मणः पदातिनं तं निशितैः शरोत्तमैः ।
सृजन्तमाजौ निशितान् शरोत्तमान् भृशं तदा बाणगणैर्न्यवारयत् ॥६-९०-५४॥
tato mahendrapratimaḥ sa lakṣmaṇaḥ padātinaṃ taṃ niśitaiḥ śarottamaiḥ |
sṛjantamājau niśitān śarottamān bhṛśaṃ tadā bāṇagaṇairnyavārayat ॥6-90-54॥
Translation
Then Lakshmana, who was radiant like the great Indra, firmly checked that foot-soldier (Indrajit)—who was himself discharging sharp arrows—with His own volleys of excellent and pointed shafts.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब इन्द्र के समान तेजस्वी उन लक्ष्मण ने, युद्ध में तीखे बाण छोड़ते हुए उस पैदल (इन्द्रजित) को अपने उत्तम और पैने बाणों के समूहों से बड़ी दृढ़ता के साथ रोक दिया।
English Commentary
The sarga concludes with a great act of resistance. Comparing Shri Lakshmana to 'Mahendra' (the great Indra) affirms His invincibility and sattvic power. He countered Indrajit's arrows with His own and effectively halted his progress ('Nyavarayat'). This verse proves that every move of Indrajit was now failing, and Shri Lakshmana's dominance was fully established. The final slaying was now only moments away.

सर्ग का समापन एक महान प्रतिरोध के साथ होता है। श्री लक्ष्मण जी को 'महेन्द्रप्रतिमः' (इन्द्र के समान) कहना उनकी अजेयता और सात्विक शक्ति को पुष्ट करता है। उन्होंने इन्द्रजित के बाणों का उत्तर बाणों से ही दिया और उसे आगे बढ़ने से रोक दिया (न्यवारयत्)। यह श्लोक सिद्ध करता है कि अब इन्द्रजित की हर चाल विफल हो रही थी और श्री लक्ष्मण जी का प्रभुत्व पूरी तरह स्थापित हो चुका था। अब अंतिम वध केवल कुछ ही क्षण दूर था।
