Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पातयामास बाणौघैः शतशो ऽथ सहस्रशः ।
स मण्डलीकृतधनू रावणिः समितिञ्जयः ॥६-९१-१५॥
pātayāmāsa bāṇaughaiḥ śataśo 'tha sahasraśaḥ |
sa maṇḍalīkṛtadhanū rāvaṇiḥ samitiñjayaḥ ॥6-91-15॥
Translation
Began to strike them down by the hundreds and thousands with volleys of arrows. That victor of battles, Indrajit, had drawn his bow into a circular shape.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बाणों के समूहों से सैकड़ों और हजारों की संख्या में गिराना आरम्भ कर दिया। युद्धों को जीतने वाले उस इन्द्रजित ने अपने धनुष को मण्डलाकार (गोल) बना लिया था।
English Commentary
The bow becoming 'Mandali-krita' (circular) indicates that Indrajit was drawing the string to his ear with maximum force. The terms 'hundreds' and 'thousands' reveal the intensity of the slaughter. He was not just wounding the Vanaras but leveling them across the battlefield. It was a fierce exhibition of his missile mastery, proving cataclysmic for the Vanara host.

धनुष का 'मण्डलीकृत' (गोल) होना इस बात का प्रमाण है कि इन्द्रजित बाणों को पूरी शक्ति के साथ कान तक खींचकर छोड़ रहा था। 'शतशः और सहस्रशः' शब्द संहार की तीव्रता को प्रकट करते हैं। वह वानरों को केवल घायल नहीं कर रहा था, बल्कि उन्हें रणभूमि में बिछा रहा था। यह उसकी अस्त्र-विद्या का रौद्र प्रदर्शन था, जो वानर सेना के लिए प्रलयंकारी सिद्ध हो रहा था।
