तौ धन्विनौ जिघांसन्तावन्योन्यमिषुभिर्भृशम् ।
विजयेनाभिनिष्क्रान्तौ वने गजवृषाविव ॥६-९१-२॥
tau dhanvinau jighāṃsantāvanyonyamiṣubhirbhṛṣam |
vijayenābhiniṣkrāntau vane gajavṛṣābhaviva ॥6-91-2॥
Translation
Those two archers, desiring to slay each other with intense volleys of arrows, appeared like two powerful bull elephants in a forest striving for victory.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे दोनों धनुर्धर बाणों के प्रहार से एक-दूसरे का वध करने की इच्छा रखते हुए वैसे ही सुशोभित हुए, जैसे वन में विजय की कामना करने वाले दो विशाल हाथी।
English Commentary
The duel between Shri Lakshmana and Indrajit is likened to a clash between two superior elephants. The word 'Jighansantau' (desiring to kill) symbolizes the fierce enmity where mercy has no place. Both sides were firmly resolved to attain victory. This analogy highlights the primal physical strength and the indomitable pride of the warriors, clarifying the sheer ferocity of this righteous war.

यहाँ श्री लक्ष्मण जी और इन्द्रजित के बीच के द्वंद्व को दो श्रेष्ठ हाथियों के संघर्ष के समान बताया गया है। 'जिघांसन्तौ' शब्द उनके बीच व्याप्त उस भीषण शत्रुता का प्रतीक है जहाँ दया का कोई स्थान नहीं था। दोनों ही पक्ष अपनी विजय के प्रति दृढ़ निश्चय थे। यह उपमा युद्ध की पशुवत शारीरिक शक्ति और योद्धाओं के अदम्य स्वाभिमान को रेखांकित करती है, जो इस धर्मयुद्ध की भयंकरता को स्पष्ट करती है।
