तानप्राप्तान् शितैर्बाणैश्चिच्छेद रघुनन्दनः ।
सारथेरस्य च रणे रथिनो रथसत्तमः ॥६-९१-२८॥
tānaprāptān śitairbāṇaīściccheda raghunandanaḥ |
sārathe rasya ca raṇe rathino rathasattamaḥ ॥6-91-28॥
Translation
Before those arrows could reach Him, the delight of the Raghus (Lakshmana) severed them with His sharp shafts. That best of car-warriors (Lakshmana), in the battle, (struck) the charioteer of Indrajit—

English Commentary
Shri Lakshmana is addressed as 'Rathasattamah' (the best among car-warriors). His defensive and offensive skills are displayed simultaneously here. He first neutralized the incoming strikes mid-air and then aimed at the enemy's charioteer. This was a sophisticated tactical move, as slaying the charioteer renders the chariot uncontrollable.

श्री लक्ष्मण जी को 'रथसत्तमः' (महारथियों में श्रेष्ठ) कहा गया है। उनकी रक्षात्मक और आक्रामक कुशलता यहाँ एक साथ दिखाई देती है। उन्होंने पहले अपने ऊपर होने वाले प्रहारों को हवा में ही नष्ट किया और फिर शत्रु के सारथी पर निशाना साधा। यह एक अत्यंत चतुर सामरिक चाल थी, क्योंकि सारथी का वध रथ को अनियंत्रित कर देता है।
