विव्याध दशभिर्बाणैः सौमित्रिं तममर्षणम् ।
ते तस्य वज्रप्रतिमाः शराः सर्पविषोपमाः ॥६-९१-३२॥
vivyādha daśabhirbāṇaiḥ saumitriṃ tamamaraṣaṇam |
te tasya vajrapratimāḥ śarāḥ sarpaviṣōpamāḥ ॥6-91-32॥
Translation
Enraged, Indrajit pierced that indignant Lakshmana with ten arrows. Those shafts, as powerful as thunderbolts, were like the venom of serpents.

क्रोधित होकर इन्द्रजित ने उन तेजस्वी लक्ष्मण को दस बाणों से बेध दिया। वे वज्र के समान शक्तिशाली बाण सर्प के विष के समान (जहरीले) थे।
English Commentary
Indrajit channeled his best physical and missile power into these 'ten arrows.' The epithets 'Vajra-pratimah' (like thunderbolts) and 'Sarpa-vishopamah' (like serpent venom) clarify the lethal capacity of the shafts. He was making a final attempt to uproot Shri Lakshmana. This assault was so fierce it was destined to test the limits of Lakshmana's endurance.

इन्द्रजित ने अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ बाहुबल और अस्त्र-शक्ति इन 'दस बाणों' में झोंक दी। 'वज्रप्रतिमाः' और 'सर्पविषोपमाः' विशेषण उन बाणों की संहारक क्षमता को स्पष्ट करते हैं। वह लक्ष्मण जी को जड़ से उखाड़ने का अंतिम प्रयास कर रहा था। यह प्रहार इतना भीषण था कि इससे श्री लक्ष्मण जी की शारीरिक शक्ति की कठिन परीक्षा होने वाली थी।
