विकृष्येन्द्रजितो युद्धे वदने शुभकुण्डले ।
लक्ष्मणेन्द्रजितौ वीरौ महाबलशरासनौ ॥६-९१-३७॥
vikṛṣyendrajitō yuddhe vadane śubhakuṇḍale |
lakṣmaṇendrajitau vīrau mahābalaśarāsanaū ॥6-91-37॥
Translation
Lakshmana drew His bow aiming at Indrajit's face, which was adorned with beautiful earrings. Those two heroes—Lakshmana and Indrajit—possessed great strength and mighty bows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सुंदर कुण्डलों से सुशोभित इन्द्रजित के मुख को लक्ष्य करके लक्ष्मण ने धनुष खींचा। वे दोनों वीर— लक्ष्मण और इन्द्रजित— महाबली और महान धनुर्धर थे।
English Commentary
A comparison of the two warriors' equality is drawn here. The epithets 'Mahabala-sharaasanau' (possessing great strength and bows) validate the high caliber of their martial status. Lakshmana targeting Indrajit's 'face' suggests an intent to strike at the very center of his pride. The glint of the earrings created a paradox amidst the horrors of war.

यहाँ दोनों योद्धाओं की बराबरी की तुलना की गई है। 'महाबल-शरासनौ' (महान बल और धनुष वाले) विशेषण उनके योद्धा स्तर की श्रेष्ठता को पुष्ट करते हैं। लक्ष्मण जी का इन्द्रजित के 'वदन' (मुख) को लक्ष्य बनाना यह संकेत है कि वे अब उसके अहंकार के केंद्र पर प्रहार करना चाहते थे। कुण्डलों की चमक युद्ध की विभीषिका में एक विरोधाभास पैदा कर रही थी।
