रणे तौ रेजतुर्वीरौ पुष्पिताविव किंशुकौ ।
तौ परस्परमभ्येत्य सर्वगात्रेषु धन्विनौ ॥६-९१-३९॥
raṇe tau rejaturvīrau puṣpitaīriva kiṃśukaīḥ |
tau parasparamabhyetya sarvagātreṣu dhanvinaū ॥6-91-39॥
Translation
In the battle, those two heroes shone like flowering Kinshuka (Palasha) trees. Approaching each other, those two archers struck at all the limbs of one another.
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध में वे दोनों वीर लाल फूलों वाले पलाश (किंशुक) के वृक्षों के समान सुशोभित हो रहे थे। वे दोनों धनुर्धर एक-दूसरे के निकट आकर सभी अंगों पर प्रहार कर रहे थे।
English Commentary
Sage Valmiki compares the blood-stained warriors to flowering 'Kinshuka' (Palasha) trees. This is a classic metaphor that finds a heroic aesthetic even within the violence of war. Striking 'at all limbs' indicates an attempt to completely incapacitate the opponent. The duel was now hurtling toward its decisive conclusion.

महर्षि वाल्मीकि यहाँ रक्त रंजित योद्धाओं की तुलना लाल फूलों वाले 'किंशुक' वृक्षों से करते हैं। यह एक क्लासिक उपमा है जो युद्ध की हिंसा में भी एक वीर-रस युक्त सौंदर्य को देखती है। 'सर्वगात्रेषु' (सभी अंगों पर) प्रहार करना यह दर्शाता है कि वे एक-दूसरे को पूरी तरह अक्षम करने का प्रयास कर रहे थे। यह द्वंद्व अब अपने निर्णायक अंत की ओर बढ़ रहा था।
