सङ्ग्रामे शतधा यान्तौ मेदिन्यां विनिपेततुः ।
शरौ प्रतिहतौ दृष्ट्वा तावुभौ रणमूर्धनि ॥६-९१-५५॥
saṅgrāmē śatadhā yāntaū mēdinyāṃ vinipētatuhu |
śaraū pratihataū dṛṣṭvā tāvubhaū raṇamūrdhani ॥6-91-55॥
Translation
Shattered into a hundred pieces in the battle, they fell upon the earth. Seeing both their arrows thus neutralized at the front of the battlefield—

युद्ध में सैकड़ों टुकड़े होकर पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े। रणभूमि के अग्रभाग में अपने दोनों बाणों को इस प्रकार निष्फल (प्रतिहत) देख—
English Commentary
The arrows falling 'in a hundred pieces' shows that the force of the impact was unimaginable. The term 'Pratihatau' (neutralized) indicates the warriors' astonishment. When supreme weapons fail, the mental fortitude of the warrior is tested. Indrajit and Shri Lakshmana were now viewing each other's prowess in a new light. This was the moment of preparation for the final, decisive strike.

बाणों का 'शतधा' (सैकड़ों टुकड़े) होकर गिरना यह दर्शाता है कि प्रहार की शक्ति अकल्पनीय थी। 'प्रतिहतौ' (निष्फल होना) शब्द योद्धाओं के विस्मय को सूचित करता है। जब सर्वश्रेष्ठ अस्त्र विफल हो जाते हैं, तब योद्धा की मानसिक दृढ़ता की परीक्षा होती है। इन्द्रजित और श्री लक्ष्मण जी अब एक-दूसरे के सामर्थ्य को नई दृष्टि से देख रहे थे। यह अंतिम और निर्णायक प्रहार की तैयारी का क्षण था।
