व्रीडितौ जातरोषौ च लक्ष्मणेन्द्रजितौ तदा ।
सुसंरब्धस्तु सौमित्रिरस्त्रं वारुणमाददे ॥६-९१-५६॥
vrīḍitau jātarōṣaū ca lakṣmaṇēndrajitau tadā |
susaṃrabdhastu saumitrir-astraṃ vāruṇamādadē ॥6-91-56॥
Translation
Then both Lakshmana and Indrajit felt ashamed and were filled with rage. Becoming highly agitated, the son of Sumitra (Lakshmana) took up the 'Varuna' missile.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब लक्ष्मण और इन्द्रजित दोनों लज्जित हुए और उनके भीतर क्रोध जाग्रत हुआ। तब अत्यंत उत्तेजित होकर सुमित्रानन्दन लक्ष्मण ने 'वारुण अस्त्र' उठा लिया।
English Commentary
The frustration of not being able to prevail is expressed by the word 'Vriditau' (ashamed/embarrassed). Shri Lakshmana then selected the 'Varuna' missile, imbued with the infallible power of the God of Waters. While this weapon can bring coolness, it can also be as destructive as the waters of dissolution for the enemy. Lakshmana was now making His strategy more subtle and divine.
हिंदी टीका
हार न मान पाने की तड़प को यहाँ 'व्रीडितौ' (लज्जित) शब्द से व्यक्त किया गया है। श्री लक्ष्मण जी ने अब 'वारुण अस्त्र' का चयन किया, जो वरुण देव (जल) की अमोघ शक्ति से युक्त है। यह अस्त्र शीतलता और शांति लाने वाला है, किन्तु शत्रु के लिए यह प्रलय के जल के समान विनाशकारी हो सकता है। लक्ष्मण जी अब अपनी रणनीति को और अधिक सूक्ष्म और दैवीय बना रहे थे।
