सन्धाय धनुषि श्रेष्ठे विकर्षन्निदमब्रवीत् ।
लक्ष्मीवाँल्लक्ष्मणो वाक्यमर्थसाधकमात्मनः ॥६-९१-७२॥
saṃdhāya dhanuṣi śrēṣṭhē vikarṣannidamabravīt |
lakṣmīvān lakṣmaṇō vākya marthasādhaka mātmanaḥ ॥6-91-72॥
Translation
Fixing it on His excellent bow and drawing it back, the glorious Lakshmana spoke these words which were to accomplish His purpose.

श्रेष्ठ धनुष पर संधान करके और उसे खींचते हुए, वैभवशाली लक्ष्मण ने अपने उद्देश्य को सिद्ध करने वाला यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
The epithet 'Lakshmivan' for Shri Lakshmana signifies His spiritual luster and His lordship over the fortune of victory. He is now poised to perform a 'Satyavakya' or 'Act of Truth.' In ancient times, warriors would swear by a great truth before releasing an infallible missile. This verse is the preamble to the divine vow that was destined to claim Indrajit's life.

श्री लक्ष्मण जी के लिए 'लक्ष्मीवान्' विशेषण उनकी आध्यात्मिक कांति और विजयश्री के स्वामित्व को दर्शाता है। वे अब 'सत्य-वाक्य' या 'सत्य-क्रिया' (Act of Truth) करने जा रहे हैं। प्राचीन काल में योद्धा अपने अमोघ बाणों को छोड़ने से पूर्व किसी महान सत्य की शपथ लेते थे। यह श्लोक उस दैवीय मन्त्र और संकल्प की पूर्वपीठिका है जो इन्द्रजित के प्राण हरने वाला था।
