इत्युक्त्वा बाणमाकर्णं विकृष्य तमजिह्मगम् ।
लक्ष्मणः समरे वीरः ससर्जेन्द्रजितं प्रति ॥६-९१-७४॥
ityuktvā bāṇamākarṇaṃ vikṛṣya tamajihmagam |
lakṣmaṇaḥ samarē vīraḥ sasarjēndrajitaṃ prati ॥6-91-74॥
Translation
Having spoken thus, the heroic Lakshmana, drawing that straight-going arrow up to His ear, released it toward Indrajit in the battle.

ऐसा कहकर, वीर लक्ष्मण ने उस सीधे जाने वाले बाण को कान तक खींचकर युद्ध में इन्द्रजित की ओर छोड़ दिया।
English Commentary
Lakshmana's drawing the string 'Akarṇam' (up to the ear) signifies His full effort and concentration. The arrow being 'Ajihmagam' (straight-going) is akin to the path of Truth that pierces the mark without wavering. This was the moment when the final arrow of Dharma was released to penetrate the heart of unrighteousness. A silence must have fallen over the battlefield, for this was the strike of cosmic justice.

लक्ष्मण जी की 'आकर्ण' (कान तक) डोरी खींचना उनके पूर्ण पुरुषार्थ और एकाग्रता का सूचक है। बाण का 'अजिह्मगम्' (सीधा जाने वाला) होना सत्य के मार्ग के समान है जो बिना विचलित हुए लक्ष्य को भेदता है। यह वह क्षण था जब धर्म का अंतिम बाण अधर्म के गढ़ को भेदने के लिए निकल चुका था। रणभूमि में सन्नाटा छा गया होगा क्योंकि यह ब्रह्मांडीय न्याय का प्रहार था।
