प्रमथ्येन्द्रजितः कायात् पातयामास भूतले ।
तद्राक्षसतनूजस्य छिन्नस्कन्धं शिरो महत् ॥६-९१-७६॥
pramathyendrajitaḥ kāyāt pātayāmāsa bhūtale |
tadrākṣasatanūjasya chinnaskandhaṃ śiro mahat ॥6-91-76॥
Translation
After severing it from the body, Lakshmana caused the huge head of that son of the Rakshasa (Indrajit), with its neck cut off, to fall onto the ground.
हिंदी अनुवाद
लक्ष्मण जी ने इंद्रजित के शरीर को मथकर (काटकर) उसका विशाल सिर, जिसका कंधा (गर्दन) कट चुका था, पृथ्वी पर गिरा दिया।
English Commentary
This verse marks the decisive moment of Indrajit's demise. The word 'pramathya' (having churned or severed violently) indicates that this was the culmination of a fierce duel, requiring immense force and precision from Lakshmana. Indrajit, who was a master of illusory warfare and had previously bound Shri Rama and Lakshmana with the Nagapasha, finally meets his end. The falling of his 'huge head' symbolizes the collapse of his immense pride and power. It represents the ultimate triumph of Dharma over Adharma.
