Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
राक्षसानां सहस्रेषु न कश्चित् प्रत्यदृश्यत ।
यथा ऽस्तं गत आदित्ये नावतिष्ठन्ति रश्मयः ॥६-९१-८५॥
rākṣasānāṃ sahasreṣu na kaścit pratyadṛśyata |
yathā 'staṃ gata āditye nāvatiṣṭhanti raśmayaḥ ॥6-91-85॥
Translation
Among thousands of Rakshasas, not a single one was seen remaining there. Just as rays do not remain when the sun has set, such was their state.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हजारों राक्षसों में से कोई भी वहां दिखाई नहीं दिया। जैसे सूर्य के अस्त हो जाने पर किरणें नहीं ठहरतीं (लुप्त हो जाती हैं), वैसी ही उनकी दशा हुई।
English Commentary
A beautiful and philosophical simile is used here. Indrajit is compared to the sun, and his army to the sun rays. Just as rays cannot exist without the sun, the army could not sustain its presence on the battlefield without Indrajit. This verse artistically portrays the importance of leadership and the absolute dependence of the followers on their leader.

यहाँ एक सुंदर और दार्शनिक उपमा दी गई है। इंद्रजित सूर्य के समान था और उसकी सेना उसकी किरणों के समान। जैसे सूर्य के बिना किरणों का कोई अस्तित्व नहीं होता, वैसे ही इंद्रजित के बिना उसकी सेना का अस्तित्व युद्धभूमि में समाप्त हो गया। यह श्लोक नेतृत्व की महत्ता और नेता पर अनुयायियों की निर्भरता को बहुत ही कलात्मक ढंग से प्रस्तुत करता है।
