पुत्रशोकार्दितो दीनो विललापाकुलेन्द्रियः ।
हा राक्षसचमूमुख्य मम वत्स महारथ ॥६-९३-६॥
putraśokārdito dīno vilalāpākulendriyaḥ |
hā rākṣasacamūmukhya mama vatsa mahāratha ॥6-93-6॥
Translation
...tormented by grief for his son, miserable and with agitated senses, he lamented: "Alas, O Chief of the Rakshasa army! O my child! O Great Charioteer!"
हिंदी अनुवाद
...पुत्र शोक से पीड़ित, दीन और व्याकुल इंद्रियों वाला होकर वह विलाप करने लगा—'हा मेरे वत्स! हा राक्षस सेना के मुख्य योद्धा! हा महारथी!'
English Commentary
Ravana, usually the embodiment of arrogance, is now 'dīna' (wretched/miserable). His lamentation addresses Indrajit by his military role ('Chief of army', 'Maharatha') and his personal relationship ('Vatsa' or child). This duality shows that he lost not just a son, but the future of his empire.

रावण का विलाप उसके दो रूपों को उजागर करता है—एक राजा और एक पिता। 'राक्षसचमूमुख्य' (सेनानायक) कहकर वह एक राजा के रूप में अपनी क्षति को याद करता है, और 'मम वत्स' (मेरे बच्चे) कहकर एक पिता के रूप में। 'दीन' शब्द रावण के लिए दुर्लभ है, जो उसकी वर्तमान मानसिक स्थिति की दयनीयता को दर्शाता है।
