Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अन्योन्यं समरे जघ्नुस्तदा वानरराक्षसाः ।
एवं प्रवृत्ते सङ्ग्रामे ह्युद्भूतं सुमहद्रजः ॥६-९४-१०॥
anyonyaṃ samare jaghnustadā vānararākṣasāḥ |
evaṃ pravṛtte saṅgrāme hyudbhūtaṃ sumahadrajaḥ ॥6-94-10॥
Translation
In that battle, the Vanaras and Rakshasas struck one another. As the fighting progressed, a massive cloud of dust arose.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस युद्ध में वानर और राक्षस एक-दूसरे को मारने लगे। इस प्रकार संग्श्री राम के प्रवृत्त होने पर अत्यंत भारी धूल उड़ने लगी।
English Commentary
The intensity of the close-quarters combat stirred up so much dust that it likely obscured vision, adding to the confusion. The rising dust serves as a visual metaphor for the chaos and the fog of war, where friend and foe become difficult to distinguish amidst the frenzy of killing.
हिंदी टीका
योद्धाओं की भगदड़ और संघर्ष से पृथ्वी कांप उठी और धूल का गुबार छा गया। यह धूल दृष्टि को बाधित कर रही थी, जिससे युद्ध और भी अनिश्चित और खतरनाक हो गया। यह दृश्य महाभारत और अन्य प्राचीन युद्धों के वर्णन के समान है, जहाँ 'रज' (धूल) युद्ध की तीव्रता का प्रतीक है।
