तथा गदाभिर्गुर्वीभिः प्रासैः खड्गैः परश्वधैः ।
निजघ्नुर्वानरान् घोरान् राक्षसाः पर्वतोपमाः ॥६-९४-१६॥
tathā gadābhirgurvībhiḥ prāsaiḥ khaḍgaiḥ paraśvadhaiḥ |
nijaghnurvānarān ghorān rākṣasāḥ parvatopamāḥ ॥6-94-16॥
Translation
Similarly, the mountain-like Rakshasas killed the terrifying Vanaras with heavy maces, lances, swords, and axes.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उसी प्रकार पर्वत के समान विशालकाय राक्षसों ने भारी गदाओं, भालों, तलवारों और फरसों से भयानक वानरों का संहार किया।
English Commentary
The battle is balanced; the Rakshasas are not passive victims. Described as 'mountain-like', they possess immense durability and strength. Their counter-attacks with heavy weaponry inflict severe casualties on the Vanaras. The text acknowledges the formidable nature of Ravana's army.

युद्ध एकतरफा नहीं था। राक्षस भी 'पर्वत के समान' विशाल और शक्तिशाली थे। वानरों के हमलों का उत्तर उन्होंने अपने भारी हथियारों से दिया। दोनों पक्षों में भारी क्षति हो रही थी। यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी संतुलन बनाए रखते हैं, यह दिखाते हुए कि शत्रु भी दुर्बल नहीं था।
