अब्रवीच्च स तान् सर्वान् बलमुख्यान् महाबलः ।
रावणः प्राञ्जलिर्वाक्यं पुत्रव्यसनकर्शितः ॥६-९४-२॥
abravīcca sa tān sarvān balamukhyān mahābalaḥ |
rāvaṇaḥ prāñjalirvākyaṃ putravyasanakarśitaḥ ॥6-94-2॥
Translation
Tormented by the loss of his son, the mighty Ravana, with folded hands, spoke these words to all the gathered chiefs of his army.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पुत्र-वियोग के शोक से कृश (दुर्बल) हुए महाबली रावण ने हाथ जोड़कर उन सभी उपस्थित सेनानायकों से यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
The gesture of Ravana speaking with 'folded hands' (pranjali) is significant. It marks a drastic departure from his usual arrogant demeanor. The mighty king, usually commanding and imperious, is now humbled by the grief of losing his son (likely Indrajit) and the dire situation of the war. It reveals his desperation and dependence on his remaining commanders to save his kingdom.

यहाँ रावण का 'हाथ जोड़ना' (प्रांजलि) अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। रावण जैसा अहंकारी शासक, जो त्रिभुवन को डराता था, आज अपनी सेना के सामने विवश होकर अनुनय कर रहा है। यह पुत्र-शोक की तीव्रता और युद्ध की विकट परिस्थिति को दर्शाता है। उसका गर्व चूर हो रहा है, और उसे अब अपनी रक्षा के लिए अपने शेष योद्धाओं के समर्थन की अत्यंत आवश्यकता है।
