एष हन्ति गजानीकमेष हन्ति महारथान् ।
एष हन्ति शरैस्तीक्ष्णैः पदातीन् वाजिभिः सह ॥६-९४-२४॥
eṣa hanti gajānīkameṣa hanti mahārathān |
eṣa hanti śaraistīkṣṇaiḥ padātīn vājibhiḥ saha ॥6-94-24॥
Translation
'He is killing the elephant army! He is killing the great chariot-warriors! He is killing infantry along with horses with sharp arrows!' (So cried the Rakshasas).
हिंदी अनुवाद
'यह (श्री राम) हाथियों की सेना को मार रहे हैं, यह महारथियों को मार रहे हैं, और यह तीखे बाणों से घोड़ों सहित पैदल सैनिकों को मार रहे हैं' (राक्षस केवल ऐसा चिल्लाते थे)।
English Commentary
The repetitive exclamation 'esha hanti' (Here he kills...) captures the panic. The Rakshasas perceive Shri Rama's simultaneous impact on different wings of the army—elephants, chariots, infantry. It illustrates the 'Simhanada' (roar) of chaos where the enemy can only announce their own destruction without being able to prevent it.

राक्षसों में हाहाकार मचा हुआ था। वे केवल एक-दूसरे को बता रहे थे कि श्री राम कहाँ-कहाँ विनाश कर रहे हैं। 'एषः' (यह) शब्द का बार-बार प्रयोग यह दर्शाता है कि श्री राम एक ही क्षण में सर्वत्र प्रतीत हो रहे थे। कभी हाथियों के पास, कभी रथों के पास। यह उनकी सर्वव्यापकता का भ्रम उत्पन्न कर रहा था।
