हतैर्गजपदात्यश्वैस्तद्बभूव रणाजिरम् ।
आक्रीडमिव रुद्रस्य क्रुद्धस्य सुमहात्मनः ॥६-९४-३५॥
hatairgajapadātyaśvaistadbabhūva raṇājiram |
ākrīḍamiva rudrasya kruddhasya sumahātmanaḥ ॥6-94-35॥
Translation
With dead elephants, infantry, and horses, that battlefield looked like the playground of the enraged, great-souled Rudra (Lord Shiva).
हिंदी अनुवाद
मारे गए हाथियों, पैदल सैनिकों और घोड़ों से वह रणभूमि ऐसी प्रतीत हो रही थी, मानो क्रोधित हुए महामना रुद्र (भगवान शिव) का क्रीड़ा-स्थल हो।
English Commentary
The battlefield is compared to the playground of Rudra (the fierce aspect of Shiva). Just as Rudra dances the Tandava at the time of dissolution, scattering death, Shri Rama has turned the field into a macabre landscape of corpses. It elevates the war to a cosmic event, equating Shri Rama's wrath with the divine force of destruction.

वाल्मीकि जी पुनः शिव (रुद्र) की उपमा देते हैं। संहार के देवता रुद्र हैं। श्री राम द्वारा किया गया संहार इतना व्यापक और प्रलयंकारी था कि रणभूमि रुद्र की 'क्रीड़ा भूमि' (श्मशान या प्रलय स्थल) जैसी लग रही थी। यह श्री राम के भीतर शिव-तत्व (संहार शक्ति) के दर्शन कराता है।
