राक्षसानां सहस्राणि गदापरिघयोधिनाम् ।
काञ्चनध्वजचित्राणां शूराणां कामरूपिणाम् ॥६-९५-२॥
rākṣasānāṃ sahasrāṇi gadāparighayodhinām |
kāñcanadhvajacitrāṇāṃ śūrāṇāṃ kāmarūpiṇām ॥6-95-2॥
Translation
Thousands of heroic Rakshasas, capable of changing their forms at will, who fought with maces and iron clubs and were distinguished by their golden banners—

गदा और परिघ से युद्ध करने वाले, सुवर्णमयी ध्वजाओं से सुशोभित और इच्छानुसार रूप बदलने वाले हजारों वीर राक्षस—
English Commentary
The verse describes the supernatural shape-shifting abilities ('Kamarupa') and the heavy weaponry of the Rakshasa warriors. The golden banners were symbols of their prosperity and imperial pride. Though considered invincible, their downfall was inevitable because they stood against Dharma. The Rakshasa women lament that even such capable warriors could not withstand the assault of the Vanara army led by the Lord.

राक्षसों की 'कामरूप' होने की मायावी शक्ति और उनके भारी शस्त्रों (गदा, परिघ) का यहाँ वर्णन है। सुवर्ण की ध्वजाएँ उनकी समृद्धि और राजकीय गौरव की प्रतीक थीं। ये सभी योद्धा अजेय माने जाते थे, किन्तु धर्म के विरुद्ध खड़े होने के कारण इनका पतन निश्चित था। राक्षसियाँ इस बात पर विलाप कर रही हैं कि इतने सामर्थ्यवान योद्धा भी वनवासियों की सेना के सामने टिक न सके।
